I’ve never heard anything about not washing your face afterwards, but a good idea when working at the computer for a long time is to make sure to take breaks regularly and every few minutes look away from the computer, especially out the window. Changing what you’re focusing on is good for the eyes.

When you work at the computer for extended periods it reduces the amount of times you blink, this reduces the level of moisture in the eyes giving you that sore tired feeling.
Getting away from the screen and the use of eye drops helps..but no you won’t go blind.
