I feel very unhappy with my life.

I don’t want to commit suicide but I do feel trapped by a job I can’t stand and a lack of ambition. The only thing I want is happiness but I can’t see a way forward. I’m very intelligent – approximate IQ 140 – but I really lack any meaningful ambition. I’d be quite happy to win the lottery and never work again. But the fact is that a mega lottery win is a fluke. It may happen but the chances are that it won’t. I need to earn at least £20K just to survive but I need a way to escape my current job. I have various disabilities that don’t make job hunting easy. I don’t know how to progress in the pursuit of happiness.

(My disabilities include partial deafness, Asperger’s and developmental prosopagnosia, known as “face blindness”.)
I think that I should add that I had a lot of time off work in 2007, eight weeks for a minor operation, four weeks for depression and seven weeks for a contagious disease I caught off my kitten (the kitten is fine). In addition, I had a few days off for colds, flu and migraines. I think that my health record is a problem.

Have you heard of the condition commonly called “Face Blindness”?

I guess it’s where you can’t tell people’s faces apart and you don’t even recognize very popular celebrities and even friends and relatives. It affects all ages and is usually caused by head trauma from what I’ve read. I saw a special on t.v. once on it and was wondering if it was Dateline or 60 Minutes or something of that nature? Do you know someone with this condition?
