J P wonders:

I’ve done something in my life that was a huge mistake and it was the worse day of my life. It was my fault for choosing what I did and now I have to face the consequences and live with this regret that I sometimes think about each day and thought to myself how stupid I was do to that. My greed and blindness left me lead me to where I am. How do I erase these bad memories from my mind?
Thanks for the tips!

Making Roman Blinds For Your Bedroom

Lee Dobbins wonders:

Roman blinds can add a nice look to any bedroom and you can give them a custom touch by making them in fabric to match your bedding or other décor in the room. These blinds are basically a panel of fabric with laths encased in channels and cording to draw up the lathes so it simply takes a bit of sewing know how to make them.

When selecting material for your blinds, go with something that is a medium weight and match the colors to those in your bedroom.

Here’s what you need:

Medium weight fabric Curtain lining fabric 1/2″ wood laths 2 X 1 wood batton to fit across the window Plastic rings Angle brackets Screw eyes Nylon cord Tools such as a square, ruler, pencil, staple gun, cleat and screws

First, measure the window height and width from inside the casing. Cut the roman blinds material 2 ½” wider and 4″ longer than that measurement. Cut the curtain lining fabric the same width as the blinds fabric and 2″ longer.

Now you need to decide how many pleats or the size of the pleats. Typically, a roman blind has 6″ pleats so you’ll want to divide the length of your fabric – 4″ by 12 since 6″ pleats would have the channels spaced 12″ apart. So, if you are making roman blinds for a window that is 48″, you should have cut the fabric to 52″ (since you added 4″ to the measurement). Then you have to divide the original 48″ by 12 (the size of each channel) for a total of 4. So you will have 4 pleats in your blinds.

Mark the lining 1 ¼” up from the bottom edge with a hem line and 2″ down from the top edge. To mark your channels for the roman blinds, make 2 lines spaced 2 ½” apart starting 6″ above the hem line. After you make the first set of line, measure up another 12″ and make another set, again spaced 2 ½” apart. Form the channels by bringing the 2 lines together, pinning them and then sewing them to form the channel for the lath.

To assemble the roman blind, put the blind fabric and lining with right sides facing each other and lower edges matching. Stitch the lower edges together. Turn right side out and sew across the blind at the hem line. Pin the lining and roman blind fabric together along the channels and stitch them together. Baste and stitch the sides together, making sure not to stitch up the channels.

To make the pleats in the roman blinds, slip the laths into the channels and slip stitch the openings. Sew the plastic rings on the lining 4″ in from the ends of the laths on each side. Cut the 2 pieces of nylon cord twice the length of the blind plus the width. Tie a cord onto each of the bottom rings and thread up through the rest of the rings to the top of the roman blinds and let hang loose.

Now you can hang your masterpieces! Attach the top part to the batton (you can use a staple gun). Now put the angle brackets at the top of the window and attach the batton to the brackets. Attach a screw eye to the batton on each side above the rows of plastic rings. Thread the loose cord through the screw eyes and over to the right side of the window. Slip a lath into the very bottom of the blind to finish it off.

Viola! Now you have custom Roman blinds for your bedroom!

Rabbit Blindness/Stroke Help From Vets Or Experts Please?

Mandy ♥ *\o/* wonders:

Hey guys, I asked a question about a week ago about my rabbit and a swelling on his face. I took him to the vets on Tuesday and was told he had an abcess. I took him in today and he had an op – to check his teeth and flush out all of the abcessy gunk. The main concern was him not recovering from the anaesthetic because he is so old (8 year old dwarf) so when I rang and was told he was fine, I was totally relieved.
However, they rang my mum about an hour later saying he had had an ‘episode’ that may well have been a stroke and he had lost his sight. I want to know how to tell if a rabbit is blind because he seems a little bit squinty but he has had an op on his face so this would be understandable! Also, why would he have had a stroke? Is it because of the op? Will he be alright or is there chance of another stroke, so should I be keeping an uber close eye on him? Thanks
I have been looking at previous questions and answers, but according to those, it sounds like he would be acting differently – dragging a side along, like as though he had lost all movement etc in one side. But this is not the case at all. I want to say that he probably hasnt had a stroke and I dont think he is blind, but I am not the expert – surely the vet is??? :S :S

Vinyl Mini Blinds – A Cheap Alternative To Expensive Drapes

Peter Crump wonders:

Vinyl mini blinds offer a large selection of blinds in colors and styles to suit any taste. There are also aluminum blinds in this mini blind style, but they are not as cheap as the vinyl blinds. Deep printed and embossed details on vinyl mini blinds give them the appearance of being made of fabric without the detailed care that fabric blinds require. All vinyl mini blinds and aluminum blinds come with a snap on valance so that you can choose to use just the blinds as window treatments if you don’t want to use cloth valances or drapes.

Close the vinyl mini blinds completely to darken a room or leave them slightly open to let the light shine through. The small slats of both the vinyl and aluminum mini blinds overlap so that you have the privacy you need by blocking out the outside of the window. You can achieve the effect you want in any room by purchasing these types of cheap mini blinds, which enables you to make your money go farther. The modern mini blinds come in all sizes and shapes. You can also have them specially made to fir irregularly shaped windows.

Vinyl mini blinds are the cheapest of all blinds on the market. You can get this style of mini blinds in faux wood, which will make it seem as if you have the more expensive wooden blinds at the windows. The wide variety of colors that you can get in both vinyl and aluminum mini blinds makes it possible to color coordinate the windows and the décor of any room in your home. Cheap mini blinds also look great when combined with vertical blinds in a room with several large and small windows.

Both aluminum and vinyl mini blinds are easy to install and easy to clean. The slats are held together by string that raises and lowers by means of a cord. If you prefer to have a motorized mini blind, you can also get this in vinyl and aluminum, but it won’t be as cheap. You can tilt the slats in both kinds of mini blinds to control the amount of sunlight coming into a room. This enables you to have the shade you want to protect your furniture and flooring and to prevent a glare on the TV screen if it is facing the window.

Vinyl mini blinds are available everywhere and are manufactured by many top selling brand names. They are the top selling blinds because they are so durable, they won’t rust and the vinyl resists fading at the window. With cheap mini blinds, you can change the blinds at the window as often as you change the color of the room. Instead of buying expensive curtains and drapes to dress your windows, take a look at what vinyl mini blinds can do for you.

What would you do if you were faced with this situation? (There could be more than one question being asked)?

Alexi The One Of Metal wonders:

I’m in desperate need to find the most help possible as I’d like to have my dad around to see events in my life that have yet to unfold but the
way he’s going I may only have 20 more years with my dad….

Question 1)
I realize that it’s OK to drink beer but is it alright to consume 6-9 cans of beer at 5.9% alcohol content each and every night and to the point where he counts his beer per case? (to add to this question my dads father drank him self literally to death).

Question 2)
Is it normal for my dad to refuse to quit smoking cigarettes when the doctor told him that if he doesn’t quit he will eventually suffer from partial blindness when my dads job is being a Computer Tech?

Question 3)
My dad is also having an affair that consist of talking on the phone and texting but the problem is it’s all being done with the company cell phone and company computer. He’s starting to treat my mom like crap over a women he hasn’t seen since he was 17 years old exactly 30 years ago. On top that this person my dad is having an affair with is down south where it would take 10 hours for either person to drive to see the other one way. Also it’s her second marriage and her husband has everything set up to spy on her and she claims he’s abusive but in my opinion if she’s messing around on him she deserves to be slapped around but not full fledge hit as her cheating is probably how her first marriage ended.

My mom is loosing my dad on what she believes to be a mid life crisis but I personally think and believe that there is no such thing as a mid life crisis all it is really is a piss poor excuse to be an @ss.
I take my moms side on everything because my dad broke my hand when I was 17. From age 5 to present he would rather call me Sh*t head, F***king Moron or FM for short, Dumb Sh*t, and Simple Sh*t rather than my own name though he did say my name. Lately he has shown me in every way that he truly never wanted a 2nd kid which is true my mom tricked him to have me.

Also when I got home from the military on a medical discharge my dad forced me to get a job before I was done healing and he wonders why I can’t get a job now because i was still severely injured (from repeated head injuries). He tried to get me sent to an all mens shelter but if it wasn’t for my mom talking out of it I wouldn’t be able to write this question today.

On my parents 27th wedding anniversary my dad spent some great deal of time in a bath room texting his other lover.

what kills me the most is my dad was allowed to further his education while my mom still doesn’t even have her GED yet basically because my dad prevents her from getting it. She has to be home at nights and on the weekends and can only work during the day according to how my dad wants it. All my mom ever wanted in life is to be a great wife and a great mother and she has already done those 2, but its kind of a slap to the face when your husband says to you “I’ve been unhappy for 12 years and it’s all YOUR fault!”.

I need the help on all 3 questions I’m so for a loss of words it’s not even funny. There is more going on but for privacy I can’t get into more detail.

I can’t wait to see what good answers come my moms and my way.
Thanks for all the time you took to read this question it’s greatly appreciated! :-)

Outside, the city makes it’s noise,
and people drive from street to street,
searching for their souls.
Searching for their own lost cause.
This place is void of spirit,
all the disconnected people,
walking with their plastered-on grins.
Unable to remove them,
so unaware of freedom.
Arrogance clouds the tired faces of men
as they stroll through their jail cell,
self detained.
Echoing off of the walls are the illusions of perfection.
Where the best of friends are strangers,
and the blindness goes unnoticed.

Keep in mind I’m 13

Have you heard of the condition commonly called “Face Blindness”?

SHELTIELUVER wonders:

I guess it’s where you can’t tell people’s faces apart and you don’t even recognize very popular celebrities and even friends and relatives. It affects all ages and is usually caused by head trauma from what I’ve read. I saw a special on t.v. once on it and was wondering if it was Dateline or 60 Minutes or something of that nature? Do you know someone with this condition?

Different Types of Poker – Part 1

Steven Cancel wonders:

le think of poker these days they are generally referring to Texas hold’em. Texas hold’em poker has picked up an enormous amount of fans and is quite possibly more popular than all other poker types combined. There is a total of 8 popular types of poker and I am going to tell you a little about each of them. Many poker game types support the card rankings but most everything else is different.

Let’s start with learning the basics of Texas Hold’em style poker. First, the 2 players to the left of the dealer put down a small blind and a big blind. Blinds are small bets based on the rules set prior to the game starting. Each player is dealt 2 cards down which are called pocket cards. The first person able to call, bet, or fold is left of the big blind. Calling means you will match the current per player bet and pass the option on to the next player. In order to stay in the game you must at least match the big blind unless a greater bet has been placed then you must match that. Each player will have the option to bet, fold or call when it is their turn. After everyone has completed the first round of bets 3 cards are flipped from the remaining deck in viewing of each player. Everyone playing will mentally use these cards in combination with their own to make the best possible poker hand. Each player then is able to bet, fold, or call again. After betting you take one card out of the deck and face it down, then place the following card up next to the 3 flipped. This again is mentally used to improve each player’s hand. After the option to once again bet, fold, or call happens again another card is placed down and another one up. This is the last chance for everyone to bet, fold, or call. If someone calls and matches all bets the players remaining must show each other their cards. The winner takes the pot.

5 card and 7 card stud is the first ones we will start with. These were both very popular games before Texas hold’em grew in popularity. In 7 card stud, each player is dealt 2 cards – one up and one down. Whoever has the lowest card showing at the table must initiate by betting or checking. Following the bet initiation each person at the table must pass, raise or fold their hand. There is a maximum of 4 bets per round (1 bet and 3 raises) with a total of 5 rounds. Whoever is dealt the highest strongest poker hand showing must be the first one to initiate betting for that round. Each round is another opportunity to bet while cards are placed face up on the table except on the first and final round where it is face down leaving plenty of mystery to the game. 5 card stud follows all of the same rules except there are 2 of the face up cards are not included leaving each player with 5 cards dealt at the end of each hand. Although the rules are similar to Texas hold’em there are some crucial differences. Each player has their own face up cards and the person that initiates the bet each round changes consistently completely changing the metrics of the game.

If you are interested in learning simplified rules of other poker variations please continue reading to Part 2 of this article.
